now that patch is available that allows seq to work with a session of eq running under wineX, has anyone been able to make a keysniffer for wine? I tried using my old key sniffer exe file under wine but wine seems to run each program in its own memory space (sort of a separate windows box for each app) and therefore doesnt see eqgame. if anyone got a solution pls share.

I am extremely interested in something like this.

I suspect, however, it would most likely need to be a native Linux app that runs as Root. I could be wrong, as I've never tried reading another application's memory space before.

Of course, it should even be possible to make such a keysniffer part of ShowEQ proper.

We already have to run ShowEQ as root to gain access to the packets, and now that it is possible to run ShowEQ and Everquest on the same machine (under linux) maybe it wouldn't be too hard to embed the sniffing code directly into ShowEQ.

I also think that a keysniffer under Linux would be nearly impossible to detect, since we're talking a completely different environment altogether. I mean, I'm sure SOE could detect that Everquest isn't running under Windows fairly easily, but beyond that, they would have no way of figuring out that someone was running ShowEQ or a sniffer.
