Hello,

I am using the Keyring key sniffer. It works flawlessly now with the 12/4/2002 patch.

I read a suggestion by someone to install a telnet server on the windows box so that you don't have to leave the sniffer running. It sounded good to me, so I downloaded a bunch of free telnet servers from tucows, download, etc.

The problem is that the telnet servers pop up a DOS box to execute the sniffer and send the key. This crashes good ol' EQ because the DOS box gets focus I guess.

Does anyone know a telnet server that won't pop up a DOS box? Or is there a way to make a DOS box not get focus?

I tried the stealth sniffer, it doesn't work for me. It doesnt send any UDP packets. Other than leaving keyring running for my whole EQ session, I don't know what else to do. :?

Any help would be appreciated.

If you are running XP, the telnet server that comes with works fine.

I'm using most of the code from Uncleben for the telnet server. It's nice and small and you should be able to modify it to run any program you like.

Datadog, I'd really appreciate it :)

I am running Win98, so the XP stuff is out. I literally tried 10-15 different telnet servers, and all crashed EQ.

I am looking into "cygwin sshd". That's a whole new thing from the little I read so far.

Chuggin' along. Thanks for the help and suggestions.

Well, I didn't make any headway with cygwin .. but luckily I ran across a telnet server at http://www.pragmasys.com/TelnetServer/ that does not do the DOS box popup thing. It's a 30 day trial software, so I guess I got 30 days to find something more permanent.
