CVS commit of ShowEQ 5 Beta 3 (aka ShowEQ 5.0.0.3),

It works with 12/19/03 EQ Live.

This is a BETA release. The latest stable release remains ShowEQ 4.3.18. I'll probably update 4.3.x to work with EQLive on Saturday 12/20/03 sometime.

---------------------

Updated version to 5.0.0.3
Updated to work with 12/19/03 EQLive
Fixed spell related crashes when using either an outdated spells_us.txt or not using one.
Fixed uic configure problem caused by people running ./configure while su'd to root.

NOTE: ShowEQ now requires Qt 3.1 or higher.

NOTE: You must use eqstr_us.txt for formatted strings (instead of eqstr_en.txt).

NOTE: You must use spells_us.txt for spell information (instead of spells_en.txt).

NOTE: Don't forget to do a 'make -f Makefile.dist', 'configure', 'make', and last but definitely not least 'make install'.

This release has been tested to compile and run on stock RedHat 9, Fedora Core 1, Gentoo 1.4, and Mandrake 9.1.

Many thanks to everyone who participated in the opcode and structure hunts. And special thanks to the IRC crew for their support, testing, reports, and company during this effort.

ShowEQ 5 Beta 3 is currently available on the CVS pserver and the ViewCVS server in the pre_5_0_beta branch. To retrieve the latest beta from CVS use the following command:

$ export CVSROOT=:pserver:[email protected] :/cvsroot/seq
$ cvs login
$ cvs co -r pre_5_0_beta showeq

Those who already installed the ShowEQ 5.0.0.2 Beta 2 tarball or retrieved it from CVS should be able to do a CVS update in their showeq directory using the following commands:

$ export CVSROOT=:pserver:[email protected] :/cvsroot/seq
$ cvs login
$ cvs update

Because so many of you like them... I've created a tarball for this release. The ShowEQ 5.0.0.3 tarball contains all of the latest changes and may be found here (http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/seq/ShowEQ-5.0.0.3_beta3.tar.bz2?download) in the ShowEQ Files section (http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=10131).

Enjoy,
Zaphod (dohpaZ)

Thank You Again for the great work. It is wonderful to have the perferences, maps, and filters broken out .......but I am a doofus Linux user and it took me a while to figure out the .showeq directory was a hidden folder. Once I found it and put my stuff there the future updates will be cake. Beautiful work.

I don't believe you intended to commit s_everquest.h, as that's generated during the build ... (Just a guess).

Very nice work though man.

Great job Z

Installed beta 3 and it worked perfectly.
No errors, no problems.

I wish all the software I try were as stable as this so-called beta.

cheers
