View Full Version : Looking for the authors of the showeq-maps?

Z compiled a nice list of authors by file for the official showeq-maps (see the AUTHORS in cvs for the latest information).

I'm looking to add to the list of authors their last know email address as well as getting email confirmation that the map(s) Z has assigned to you, you indeed developed it and that you agree the maps you created are under the GPL2 license.

PITA, I know, but I'm a firm believer in making sure we have adequate license info on files so I don't run into any stumbling blocks from the Debian Community.

Thanks.

Looks like Kal did kedge in 2002.

See this thread.

Oh and I dont know why, but hateplaneb has never made it to the cvs. It has been submitted several times (ksmith did the map) but it has never made it in the cvs. hateplane doesnt exist any more.

Has ksmiths comments and the map.

Boy, this brings back some memories. Mapping was the first thing I contributed to SEQ, long before I took over the project. If only I had known what my meager mapping contributions would eventually lead it.

Anyway, if memory serves, I created these maps:

airplane
najena
soldunga
soldungb
paineel
hateplane
tox
soltemple
beholder
cazicthule
blackburrow
droga
permafrost
grobb
ogguk
innothule
kedge
nurga
paw
skyfire
soltemple
acrylia
befallen
burningwoods
mistmoore
chardok
runnyeye
cauldron
unrest
charasis
sleeper
ssratemple
thedeep
chardokb
trakanon
hole

Now, that said, some of them were superceded by additions or much better versions by others. Some of the higher level zones were nothing more than zone boundries and exits marked, other people filled in the rest. In the case of charasis, I actually created that one (and hole) in the first eq emulator, because they were just too dangerous to map on a live server. However, I believe the Hole was superceded or added onto in a lot more detail than I ever finished.

Of course, my permission is given to distribute those according to the GPL.

I think my hateplaneb map never made it into cvs because of its size. I did eventually get it down to 795KB from 1.5MB. I was originally hoping that someone would come along and make a proper map of hateplaneb by hand, but I don't think that's gonna happen.

Ive used it ever since and works well for me. I still spend quite a bit of time there.

If you have a newer one, post it and maybe I can beg and plead with zaphod to put it in :)

Its really sucks just having a blank screen that is populated with mobs.

It's not in the CVS? I hand made a complete map of the place... I know it's gone now through a reformat... I just assumed I had commited it to CVS... fuck!

Doh...that sucks Ratt. Nope still no hateplaneb map in the cvs.

I made a map for acrylia and the small portion of grimling connecting it to acrylia... but I have no idea if I ever submitted it or not. Since ratt says he made a map for acrylia, I assume it means I never submitted mine :)

It's entirely possible yours was better than mine. As I said, a number of my maps were nothing more than the outlines of the zones. The higher level the zone, the less time and more danger there was mapping the things. And it always looked kinda funny to people if I'm running around all the static objects one at a time in a zone during a raid, so I tried to avoid that as much as possible :)

My finest work, though, was Howling Stones (Charasis). I spent like 4 hours making that stupid thing in an emulator and converting /loc's to line points.

Kedge (the good map) was one of mine.

I also did a Kaesora, which while not quite Kedge quality, I believe it's better than the current CVS version.

Both are donated to Public Domain / SEQ project.
