Announcing the release of ShowEQ version 5.3. This release is compatible with Live Servers as of 2/21 probably. Anyways, it works with latest patch after PoR expansion release. If you are on 5.2.5, you'll notice nothing working. I'd recommend you update! Duh!

Note that the spawnStruct has the light flag and gm flag incorrect more than likely. So things marked as having light or being a gm in the spawn list might not. Somehow, I think you'll survive. There were also some changes in how zoning works and how the map/spawnlist are populated with your information. If you see any weirdness, please report it.

Changelog:

purple (2/23/06)
----------------
+ Updated version to 5.3.0.0
+ Updated most opcodes for 2/21 live
+ Updated position structs for 2/21 live
+ Updated spawnStruct for 2/21 live. Missing light, gm still.
+ Updated zones.h for expansion
+ Regenerated races.h and staticspells.h for expansion
+ Fixed the Guild Member list so it parses correctly (fixes a crash when someone has an alt flag on in your guild)
+ Added Banker and Alt columns to Guild Window
+ Moved all actions taked on OP_ZoneEntry when from the server to be taken instead on OP_PlayerProfile. This is because the new auras seem to cause OP_ZoneEntry when you join a group that is effected by an aura. I'd imagine whatever OP_ZoneEntry really is, it is poorly named!
+ Made OP_BuffFadeMsg not shown on console if the message is zero length. This suppresses the constant wear off messages for auras.

Fetch the new release from the files section of sourceforge (http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=10131&package_id=13256&release_id=397268), or if you prefer to use anoncvs, go rewatch the last season of Sopranos on DVD from like 4 years ago in preparation for the new season. Maybe, just maybe, when you're done the anoncvs server might be up to date.

To install:

$ tar xjvf showeq-5.3.0.0.tar.bz2
$ cd showeq-5.3.0.0
$ ./configure
$ make
$ make install

If you have problems with ./configure, try:

$ LIBC=gnu ./configure

If you use a package for your distribution, I imagine it will be along shortly.

Thank you for the updated ShowEQ package! Works great so far.

By the way, did you mean 2/27, not 2/21?

PoR launched 2/21. If you had a time machine, this is the version of seq you'd want to use when you go back to 2/21. I guess if you had a time machine, you'd have better things to do. But who am I to judge?

You rock. Everyones hard work on this is really appreciated. Every time it is broke, I realize how much I miss looking at the screen to see where I am and what is around me.

I should have a fix for the light sources tonight or tomorrow.

I concur. Much thanks to Purple, and in my case Tanner for the Deb packages.

Is there a paypal account we can show our gratitude too?

By the way, for those of you who haven't gotten in or are at work, ShowEQ seems to work fine after this patch. (Preliminary findings.)

Took almost a month for gentoo to do so, but they finally got 5.3 into portage.

Took almost a month for gentoo to do so, but they finally got 5.3 into portage.thats cool. but without an active maintainer for the ebuild the time will come again soon when i'll have to download and compile the traditional (non-gentoo) way. so i'll probably not bother with emerging.

I have been submitting new released to gentoo within 24 hours of release for the last 2 or 3 releases. And the first time they had it available but marked as "testing" almost right away. But that last one I sent they let sit a month, then marked it as "Stable" right away.

My guess it's just how they do things. It's not stable until it's been released a while without any other updates. So portage isn't really a good method for immediate updates. But at least it's still there to get the required packages installed on new gentoo installations.

I had a working gentoo ebuild within minutes of release.
You dont even have to modify the base ebuild just copy it to a new file using the new version number (showeq-5.3.0.0.ebuild) and run an ebuild showeq-5.3.0.0.ebuild digest then emerge.
Inside the ebuild it looks for the file to download as "mirror://sourceforge/seq/${P}.tar.bz2"
P = the file name minus the .ebuild so "showeq-5.3.0.0"
You might have to add showeq to keywords so it will build
Also, place this file in your PORTDIR_OVERLAY folder. for example mine is at /usr/local/portage/games-util/showeq If you don't do this each time you sync it will get deleted.
