The map set that someone uplaoded to my guild's forums used a lot of _1's and _2's (the layering used in-game).

Not knowing the contents of these yet, I took only the _1's and converted them to SEQ format:

If it turns out the _2 data would also make sense to be added to seq, then I'll re-work these files. But for now, this is what I have.

Enjoy.

I downloaded mapfiend's set of maps. They were all formatted and optimized so all map parts were _1 vs. the old set.

I've rebuilt the sod_seq.zip file to be generated from this new set of maps.

Enjoy

I just grabbed the entire map pack from mapfiend, copied to an Everquest map directory, let the patcher patch it, then brought the resulting map directory over to the gentoo box, and let the mapconvert script have at it.

This way, I seem to end up with the same maps in-game and in SEQ.

Although, it seems that ShowEQ will read the raw *.txt map files that EQ itself uses just fine.

I've never had a good handle on how these maps are structured, and the best way to use them in ShowEQ; I would love to run across a F.A.Q or Howto on this.

Yeah, that's actaully how I convert it initially. I load the .TXT version into SEQ, then save it as the .MAP version.

Then I run a script the change the BLACK colored lines to WHITE, then run another script to rename all of the <zonename>_1.map to <zonename>.map.

Here are the latest mapfiend maps, fully optimized with mappie, and converted to the seq .map format for use with a black background. If you only want the latest SOD maps, just grab them.
