So what is the difference between the MySEQ you can download from here for free and the website myseq.net where you have to donate?

Long story short, this is an open source project, the other one no longer is. There are several posts here about it. Here is one http://www.showeq.net/forums/showthread.php?t=5703

yeah and if try to ask any questions about the " aditional features" their version has or any otehr questions the answer is always the same...

Donate! and youll know!.... no way im donating for a program people are even unwilling to list a feature set for. Razzle does jsut fine right here on open source and is always open to ideas, so he kicks virtual butt.

Historically, this version has also worked better, is better maintained, and comes out with new offsets very quickly.

We also respect CavemanBob, yo.

Actually you are wrong. The long story short is that MySeq at SF remains under the GPL. The MySeq at the other site is illegal software that violates the GPL since they took Cavemanbobs code and made it closed source.

Wow I'm suprised people still remember, it's kind of nice that people have been keeping it going even if I didn't notice this till a month after it was posted. :)

I'm banned on the other one's site as well since pretty much forever, I think I may have posted a nasty message at one point...

Glad to see someone's keeping the old girl going after all this time, that was pretty much my first .NET project and it was pretty horribly designed. ;)

At the time you designed MySEQ, ShowEQ was going through a bit of a turbulent times. They had changed the encryption to one that was pretty much unbreakable by man in the middle attacks. Ratt had declaired war on Sony and opened up to alternative programs (MySEQ, LEQM and ShowEQ key sniffers).

I am actually glad that happened (looking back that is) because it allowed creative ideas to prosper.

I would say it was "adequately designed." It gets the job done.

My hat is off to you CavemanBob, because you helped fill in the gap when there was a need.

Copyleft? means they sell it, but can't make it closed source, right?

Copyleft is a little more complicated than that.

https://www.gnu.org/licenses/copyleft.en.html

MySEQ was released under GPL3 I believe.
