Map Update Interval?

Hopefully this is an easy question. Is there a way either pre or post compiling that I can increase the interval between map updates? The position on the map is only updating maybe once or twice a second which is making it a jerky. Yes, I did select Animate Spawns and I did increase my FPM and Frame Rate values. The spawn movement is fine, it's only my position on the map when I move around. For example, I begin moving off the displayed area on the map, SEQ updates, and it "snaps" to my new location. Maybe i'm just not seeing something obvious but any ideas would be helpful. Thanks!
