    Over 12 hours? With Debian, you could have it up in less than 3...

    last time i installed a base debian system, it took all of 7 mintues.

    add everything you need to compile showeq via net install on a cable modem, and you can do it in 30-45 minutes

    Well yeah; I was accounting for a total lack of familiarity with the system

    (i should have posted this in help now that i think of it, sorry)

    Hey Casey,

    I recently got back into EQ and to my delight saw that Seq was working
    again. I switched to debian awhile ago from redhat and i'm having trouble
    compiling showeq due to problems with the qt libs. I tried getting them
    off your site, however they seem to not be there anymore. Is there
    anyway to get them other than through the ftp?

    Thanks,

    Darbin

    Edit : here's the debug output, i'm using libqt3-mt and libqt3-mt-dev :

    tried /usr/lib/qt3
    configure:9834: g++-3.0 -o conftest -g -O2 -I/usr/include/qt -I/usr/X11R6/include
    -L/usr/lib -L/usr/X11R6/lib conftest.cc -lqt-mt -lpng -lz -lm -lXext -lX11 >&5
    /tmp/cctinwLD.o: In function `main':
    /usr/include/qt/qstring.h:715: undefined reference to `QString::shared_null'
    /tmp/cctinwLD.o: In function `main':
    /root/showeq/conftest.cc:16: undefined reference to `QMutex::QMutex[in-charge](bool)'
    /root/showeq/conftest.cc:17: undefined reference to `QMutex::~QMutex [in-charge]()'
    /root/showeq/conftest.cc:18: undefined reference to `QString::makeSharedNull()'
    collect2: ld returned 1 exit status
    configure:9837: $? = 1
    configure: failed program was:
    #define QT_THREAD_SUPPORT 1

    IIRC those errors are probably due to which compiler was used to compile QT versus compiling SEQ. Both QT and SEQ need to be compiled with gcc > 3
