    Will it work?

Just to know if I have to change something on my network...

    I use cable modem
    connected to a Linksys router
going to 3 computers all on DHCP (router give me an ip)

1 of the computer is my eq machine and another one is my linux box...

    will it work?

It sounds like you have an integrated Router/hub/switch combo. In that case it depends if the hub/switch is a hub or a switch. A hub will work, a switch will not. The easiest thing to do is just to buy a cheap Tbase10 hub, hook it up to one of the ports on your switch, and plug your EQ machine, and ShowEQ machine into that hub. You can get a Netgear cheapass Tbase10 4 port hub for like 30 bucks.

Since it's an integrated SWITCH it most likely will not work. Find an old HUB and plug both computers into it, and hook it's uplink port to the router and everything should be fine.

You should be able to find an old hub on ebay or a surplus shop for $25 .

Whatever you do, DO NOT get the latest firmware for this thing! I did and now I go LD every 10 minutes. Linksys messed around with some Firewall features in that update, so now I have to set my EQ comp as DMZ host (to bypass it) every time before I play and un-set it after.

Is there an easier way, btw? Maybe just some ports I have to open? Any ideas?

    Ill try that though...

before buying a HUB.. instead of giving him my eq machine ip, ill try to give showeq my router ip... will see if it works... (of course if i can get showeq to run hehe)

it won't work with a switch, period. no matter what ip you tell it to monitor. you really will have to get a hub to make it work.

    About sniffing over a switch

It can be done.. Now if we could just incorporate that into SEQ lol

It would keep some of the linux noobies out of the picture thou
