I am lame. but how do I patch Seq

I get errors saying
cvs update: No CVSROOT specified! Please use the `-d' option
cvs [update aborted]: or set the CVSROOT environment variable.

when I run cvs update -d..

anyone that can please post a walkthrough for patching seq?

the patch for today hasnt been posted yet, the patch you see is for a few bugs from a few days ago, the 5-8-02 patch has not been posted yet
