password for anonymous login to cvs?

after entering cvs login i am prompted for a password however just hitting enter gets me booted. is there now a password for this?

There is a defined limit to the number of concurrent CVS logins... If that number is reached anyone else trying to connect is refused until one of the current users logs off.

I ran into the same problem - the fix is that you need to use wget and put in the entire path to the file, rather than just trying to browse thru the FTP to get to the file. I think it was ftp://smurfette.trifocus.com/libeq/i386/linux/libEQ.a

This worked great for me, I had no problems once I grabbed the file with wget rather than being lazy and surfing to it with my web browser.
