I realize that there are a lot of posts concerning this, and believe me, ive read through them all, so please bear with me.

Ive updated QT, so that is out of the way.

I have also updated gcc to 3.1.

[root@blah-showeq]# rpm -qa | grep gcc
gcc-g77-2.96-85
libgcc-3.0.1-3
qt-gcc3-devel-2.3.2-1
gcc-c++-2.96-85
gcc-objc-2.96-85
qt-gcc3-2.3.2-1
gcc-2.96-85
gcc-sh-linux-3.0.3-5
gcc-3.1-0.20020423.0

When i run configure, i get the following:

checking for gcc3... no
checking for gcc... gcc
checking for g++-3.0... no
checking for g++... g++
checking for supported compiler version... no
checking for gcc-3.0... no

checking for g++-3.0... no

checking alternate compiler for supported compiler version... no
configure: error: You need at least GCC G++ 3.0 or greater to compile ShowEQ

And the it halts there. For the life of me I cannot figure it out, ive spent hours trying to do so. It could be a little thing that has slipped my mind. I would appreciate any help possible. Be it export lines or suggested updates. If you need anymore information, just let me know.

Did you do the CC= and C++= variable setting like it says to in the install guide? my guess is no..
