Ok, so I have it all installed, everything compiles fine, etc, no problems to this point... however I do not have the showeq.conf, showeq.conf.bak, or showeq.conf.dist file anywhere on my disk. I did a find for it and it is simply not there, not in the source where I downloaded showeq from the cvs server, or in the /usr/local/share/showeq directory where it used to be. Anyone have a copy of this file they could email me? Or at least point me to where I can download just this file? Or better yet, and idea of why I am not getting this file anymore?

Thanks in advance.

Are people realy that ignorant? 'suppose so,

Open your eyes! Read the readme files, use

http://www.petervandongen.com/images/search.jpg

look down the list of current messages in this board and see that what you ask is asked a few times already this week or simply goto the announcements section, read through the fooking announcements and you'll see http://seq.sourceforge.net/showthread.php?s=&threadid=1126

And NO, I am not some kind of ShowEQ wizard, I'm not a Linux Geek (installed Linux and used it for the first time ever only a few weeks ago), as a matter of fact, I probably know LESS about these things then you do. I just use my brains and look before I ask... sjees.

GOFUK

I read this site for over 2 hours before I posted... but when I run showeq, it says it cant find the file so obviously my executable is asking for it, so all I am asking for is a copy of the file so I can reintegrate it. Pretty simple... I guess you just want to up your status with pettiness.

The showeq.conf file is redundant and not used anymore

Isn't that a simple thing to gasp?

It's redundant, not used, and can be deleted if you still have it. As a matter of fact, I personally deleted mine after I updated on May 11th, and showeq runs perfectly and compiles perfectly. Three days ago I made a complete new install on another system and: no showeq.conf file there (obviously because it's not used anymore) If your dist doesn't, then you didn't update your dist correctly.

Read the INSTALL.newbies

From the link I pointed you to:

Notes:

Make sure to do a clean build and install, starting from 'make -f Makefile.dist' and ending with a make install.

The old configuration files will no longer be used, a method for migrating configuration information from these files has not been provided.

Here's another link that explains the issue: http://seq.sourceforge.net/showthread.php?s=&threadid=1135&highlight=showeq.conf+showeq.conf.dist
