Curious, Is anyone having trouble with Eqw after todays patch, Iam not able to type in PW or Account info. I know this isnt a Eqw site but I know you guys use it, and the hackerquest site is no more. Just wondering if its just me or it was a patch thing.

You mean this Hackerquest (http://www.hackersquest.org/) is no more??? Seems to be up for me... Here's the EQW forum (http://www.hackersquest.org/boards/viewforum.php?f=12) I'm sure you can find the answer there.

Still not able to hit them, using your links.

Unfortunately www.hackersquest.org has rather notoriously bad DNS. Their DNS doesn't work for me (get "connection timed out; no servers could be reached" when doing an nslookup). Use the following URL to get to it http://62.128.31.10/.

Enjoy,

Hmm probably a DNS problem then. Try this http://62.128.31.10

Just for the sake of thread completeness: In general, if you need to get the IP addr for a machine that your DNS wont resolve, check out this site:

http://cc-www.uia.ac.be/ds/nslookup.html

There are a few others like this, just search for "nslookup" on google to find them..

Didn't the person who wrote EQW drop the project a long time ago? I have a faint memory that he/she had it in working condition and decided that was as far as they were going to support it.

My point is that we just might have lost a great tool...:(

Be well and Thank you for continueing you great efforts.

http://www.hackersquest.org/boards/viewtopic.php?t=1710 4th post in the thread, he's still here and probably will have a quick "fix" for EQW junkies whenever he has the time to dive into it.

I used EQW for the first time last night, powerleveling a new character. It wasn't perfect, but the cleric and magician on EQW windows on one machine and the character I'm pl'ing on another machine worked wonderfully.

Then they patch and I can't use it. Grr.

I'm sure it was nothing put in place to stop EQW, but just had the side effect of.

ps. Didn't I hear of another program like this once that was a general purpose tool for running any DX game in a window?

Yes you did, and no it didn't work then, and presumably doesn't work now.

PS I'm convinced, and I'm not real sure how to prove this, that the new patch put porn into everquest.

I'm not talking about the lame no clothes bug. What I mean is when I ran EQ right after the patch I had a lot going on in my box. Right between the patch screen and the license click box there my computer lagged hard (100% CPU usage) and for a brief second there was an ass on my screen.

It was very quick, and I'm trying to figure out how to prove I saw it. Every time since then when the screen flash it flickers before it draws the license screen. My hunch is a programmer flipped in a two or three frame blit of something naughty before the program gets started.

Anyone else want to try and confirm?

Umm... I have three EQ machines, and do see it on any of them.. Perhaps you have asses on the brain?

Question for you though, does your screen flicker an unusually large number of times between the patch message and the license screen?

Besides, I've posted here long enough for you all to know I've had my head in my ass more than once.

Perhaps they build in a subliminal mirror :D

And no, no flickering here, EQ starts up as it usual does (slow)

If your desktop resolution is "significantly" different than the resolution you play EQ at, you will get alot of flickering as it switches back and forth.

Significantly different is dependant on your Vid card and monitor, and by resolution I mean everything from X,Y size as well as color depth and refresh rate. :D
