Ximian, Redhat 7.1 and gcc3, etc...

I have Ximian but I couldn't figure out how to make it install gcc3 so I just "manually" installed the rpm. Does anybody know how this will effect Ximian? (i.e., will it be able to upgrade gcc3 in the future, etc)?
