patch

Added in support for the new netcode, the 'encryption' (if you can call it that :p ) and fixed a few of the main opcodes and structs.

(edited out url to avoid confusion)

Sorry to show my ignorance...

How do I apply the diff?

I did search on patch, but just came back with a bunch of (496) replies. Also tried SEQ Patch but no joy.

Maybe this could be incorporated into the INSTALL.newbies / FAQ?

If people think its a good idea that is :)

Thanks in anticipation

First... Excellent work and thank you sooo much.

Now just so I'm on the same page... I searched for the latest memory offest because the one on the front page does not work for me (0x007c1950) and I came up with about three different ones that did not work. I hope I'm not missing the obvious.

Is there a new offset and even if there is, will the latest changes be able to show mobs?

Again I'm extremely grateful for even seeing the GPS part of showeq again. Thanks so much!!

I applied the diff and compiled, no problems there. Code runs fine, but maps immediately shrink to very tiny with almost all mobs heading out of the zone bounds at high speed. My char is shown moving also. Any ideas, guys? I'll go poke around in the patch and see if I can find anything. Thanks for the diff, mvern, you rock! :)

Thank you very much Mvern, for doing all this extra work. I only hope I can repay you in kind someday. This will help me with an epic, I was holding off on, since I don't have tracking. Now I can go ahead and work on it.

Shrinking map points to bad libEQ

Thanks Mvern, I got skittles again :D

DrgnWolf208

My md5sum of libEQ.a is:
ddaac48baaa3e9b015984a366748ed72

Unless I missed a post somewhere, that is the latest and greatest, no? :(

I tried downloading it again, and still get the same md5sum, so I'm assuming I've got the latest one.

I can load maps with the all-gray skittles, but as soon as I attempt decode, I get the map shrink problem. I am assuming my problem to be related to my key somehow. Still investigating...

cryptorad
02-16-2003, 10:01 AM
DrgnWolf...

Search your drive for libEQ.a and see where and how many you have. You need ONE only.. in the lib subdirectories path.

Check FAQ for where to put it if you have more then one.

DrgnWolf208
02-16-2003, 10:31 AM
Sorry, little highlander humor there...

No, I only have one copy of libEQ.a in /usr/lib.
That was apparently not the problem. I completely tossed everything out. (/usr/local items, /seq/showeq dir, etc.) Completely re-downloaded from CVS (oddly enough, I did this the first time, as well), applied the patch, and re-compiled. It now works. I can only guess there was something in /usr/local that was the culprit. I've been a *nix coder since 1988 and still am amazed at some of the things that will fix problems. LOL
(Like putting a printf statement in the spelllist window making it work...strange, but hey...)
Anyway, if anyone else has this problem, basically try removing everything and starting fresh. Cheers, and good luck!

At work so I cant try this out yet, but why is this a "temp" fix? Does it not show mobs? Something still not working?

Hell, wether it shows mobs or not, it's great to actually be able to do something with it! Kudos brother!

cvs -z3 update
applied mvern patch
make clean
make -f Makefile.dist
configure
make
make install

works like a champ

The most "important" features work, however, keep in mind, almost EVERY opcode and struct was changed, so a lot of work is left to be done.

Awesome fix mvern!

Was there a new libEQ released? Using the latest CVS and applying the patch, I get GPS/Map functionality and with Show Unknow Spawns set, can see gray dots on the map. No spawn decoding though. :/

Edit: Never mind. I feel really stupid. Forgot to set the udp port on SEQ to match my sniffer. All working swimmingly now. :)

Have you made sure that is what you're using for the key?

FYI, as of a few hours ago, the gm in the irc channel had the wrong offset. instead of 448, it had 498. One of the irc ops may want to look into that.

Mvern, I wish to thank you for this marvelous patch.

I have been a follower of showeq for over 2 years now, and although there have always been those who dont know how to read before they post, it does seem that it is happening at a larger rate. my only guess as to why this is is due to the publicity SEQ got when Verant "killed" it. Before that time, it was almost never mentioned on most other web sites so was not in the limelight as now.

I just want to send cudo's out to Ratt, Casey, and the rest of the dev team that makes showeq one of the best, well written, stable utilities for everquest ive ever encountered.

I am having some problems with the patch, maybe someone can help me.

I deleted everything, got a new CVS then applied mvern patch
patch < patch03.diff in ../showeq/src

that is where I am having problems, it detects a Reversed patch, and asks me to Assume -R (n) I say yes of course

and I get Hunk #9 Failed.. and for every other file i get a bunch of failures...

Any solutions?
Thanks

Having the same problem. I even updated by cvs -z3 update

but when i
Patch < patch03.diff I get bad Hunks

Only thing i could find in a search was posablity of CVS out of date.

I think the current CVS code incorporates Mvern's changes. So if you apply the diff to the current code, you're making the changes 2x.

BTW, the current EQ changed again with the LoY release, so although you will be up to date, you won't get skittles.

Take this all with a grain of salt, 'cause I am still a newbie.

Everyone:

If you're still tyring to apply MVern's patch STOP!!! This patch ONLY applies to PRE-LOY Release.

Timeline:

*As of mid last week (week of 14 - 21 Feb Basically) MVern put a patch up to make SEQ work...
*Within 24 hours of that patch being put up it was encorporated into SEQ CVS. <-- AT THIS POINT IT WAS NO LONGER NECESSARY TO PATCH.
*As of Monday the 24th, LOY Shipped and downloaded...changing the eqgame.exe and thus breaking Show EQ Even with MVern's patch.
*It's now Thursday the 27th and people are still trying to apply MVerns patch from a week and a half ago thinking it's going to fix seq Post LOY...

Just as an FYI all, if you get the "Apply Reversed" message when running patch, IT'S ALREADY BEEN APPLIED. If it doesn't work as is, it doesn't work, and it doesn't matter how many times you try to apply the patch, it's STILL not going to work...all you're going to do is screw up your source files beyond recognition.

Ratt THANK GOD YOU GAVE MVERN ACCESS TO CVS *BHUG* now he doesn't have to post patches and we don't have to confuse the linux clueless here with having to apply patches in the proper order and at the proper time.

Wow. Let this thread die ladies and gentlemen, it has ABSOLUTELY NO VALUE anymore...

Stop patching, wait till you see a message in Announcements saying "SEQ is Fixed" then use CVS like everyone else to update.

Jeaves, were you waiting for the entertainment value of seeing how long it would take people to figure out that patching the source not only didn't do any good but wasn't even possible before you started the flaming process? Sorry if I ruined the record...:D

--Raistlin

Edit: PS All: In case you didn't get it the first time, this patch has been useless for very close to 2 weeks now and you're still trying to apply it...:) Please stop trying, and please stop posting problems about it. kk thx.

Interesting.. Every now and then the correct map loads automatically when I zone. Most of the time I have to use File load as you would expect.

Just thought I’d throw that out there.
