I have been looking at the data for when somoen join a chat channel (udp port 9876 ) yet I cannto seem to make head nor tial of it under ethereal.

Would that data be compressed under zlib? does it use the regular eq encryption ? (I doubt it used encryption since the eqim is almost never patched)

Just wandeirng if anyone has done any reasearch into this and wanted to share results before I re invent the wheel.

There are a couple threads that talked about this a while back. I searched on "eqim".

If you're looking at writing a messenger that replaces EQIM, you would be a Godsend. Make it a GAIM plugin!

Check out TEQim (http://teqim.sourceforge.net/). A friend of mine also wrote up a doc on most of the protocol. I'll post that here later.

Wow, maybe a Gaim eqim plugin is right around the corner... That would be soooo nice :D

Attached is a doc describing much of the eqim protocol. Between teqim and that, someone could probably add chat channels to seq.
