Ok.. i have not been able to get this to work.
have read about the errors here but i have a different one... i think

some kind of overflow. i start server.. start client.. load map for the zone i am in.. click go and it crashes right there.. every time

if i don't load the map and just click go it works.. well it doesn't crash but nothing else happens either lol

i would really appreciate some help here because i want to see what this thing can do :o)

Windows 2k Pro
Server/Client/Everquest all on same machine.
Client can connect to server but crashes instantly.
Testing this in burning woods using BurningWood.map from map file

Do i need something? is my maps wrong? (maps is from original package.. the 3 links in this forum)

************** JIT Debugging **************
To enable just in time (JIT) debugging, the config file for this
application or machine (machine.config) must have the
jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
The application must also be compiled with debugging
enabled.

For example:

<configuration>
<system.windows.forms jitDebugging="true" />
</configuration>

When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the machine
rather than being handled by this dialog.

The debug info is Greek to me personally, but have you tried in multiple zones? I know a few of the maps from the package have errors in them that cause crashes.

Do you have the .NET Framework 1.1 installed?

NanoTech
05-22-2003, 02:19 PM
have .NET v1.0.3705

i really can't remember where and when i got it... i know i needed it for something a long time ago but don't know what.

lol

i need 1.1?

Edit:
Just downloaded .NET 1.1 and installed it.. rebooted. Same error.

Edit:
Just installed newest DirextX as a last shot at getting this to work. No dice.
Think i'm gonna give up because it doesn't look like it's ever gonna work on my computer anyway and i don't see anyone here with same problem.. Good luck with it guys.

Oh i tried changing update delay from 250ms to 5000ms and that made the program last for 5 secs before crashing... so it must be when it updates something it does an overflow.

Still no idea why. I tried the second newest server and client pack.. same error.

Will wait and see if any of the devs know what this error is about :)

It's possible that some video cards might not agree with my brute force drawing routines drawing stuff with negative values or something. What kind of vid card were you running it on?

I'll try to find a case where DrawEllipse throws an overflow error though.

Hm.. I got the same error message. I think I know why though, but I'm not sure. I have VS .Net 2002 Ent. Arch. installed on my computer and that includes the .NET Framework 1.0. I installed the 1.1 version, but it doesn't replace the 1.0 version. Thus I have to upgrade to VS .Net 2003 in order to get the 1.1 version built-in or uninstall VS .Net 2002 and install the 1.1 Version.

I don't think there's any hardware problem. Abit NF7-S 1.2 with XP 1800+, 256 mb ddr, and radeon 9700 pro. I tried the original SEQ using VMWare Workstation 4 and installed RedHat 8.0. The installation works fine (ex. until the make install), but when I run it, it says Cannot connect to X Server. Don't know why.

What's the difference between SEQ and MySEQ though. Can someone explain it to me?

Does SEQ works through Firewire Port or USB?

I appreciate any help! Thanks in advance!

You really need to spend some time with the FAQ (http://www.macsrule.com/~seqfaq/seq-faq.html).

Your "cannot connect to X server" problem has nothing to do with Seq and everything to do with Linux. Normally you would find more info on this on a Linux board, except that someone just asked that question here last week and somone else was kind enough to explain it to them. Click on the search button in the upper right hand coner, type your error message into the box, hit the button, and you'll have your answer.

Seq and MySEQ are completely different programs that accomplish similar goals. Seq runs on Linux, MySEQ runs on Windows. Seq is a passive data sniffer, MySEQ actively scans memory. This is also covered in the FAQ, section 1.7.

Firewire and USB have nothing to do with either program.
