Hi all :)

i have installed a new System with SUSE 8.2 for SEQ, but i get errors with compliling :/

My old System SUSE 7.3 with many patches works fine

My new install gets the following error at ./configure

checking whether build environment is sane... yes
/seq/030527/showeq/missing: Unknown `--run' option
Try `/seq/030527/showeq/missing --help' for more information
configure: WARNING: `missing' script is too old or missing
checking for gawk... gawk

The working SUSE 7.3 System shows here

checking whether build environment is sane... yes
checking whether make sets ${MAKE}... yes
checking for working aclocal... found
checking for working autoconf... found
checking for working automake... found
checking for working autoheader... found
checking for working makeinfo... found
checking whether to enable maintainer-specific portions of Makefiles... no
checking for gcc... gcc
...

and then i get next error with make

IM not sure about your first error LC but the second is because libeq.h needs be libEQ.h

However you wanna rename it go ahead and you should compile fine.

Thank you Jel,

that resolves error with make, but the error with configure seems to come form a newer automake - SUSE 8.2 installs version 1.70 of automake

I found the following while searching the web:

configure: WARNING: `missing' script is too old or missing comes from
aclocal.m4
The executed command is "$MISSING --run true"

Newer missings (they typically come with automake - I'm running 1.5) have
this in them:

case "$1" in
--run)
# Try to run requested program, and just exit if it succeeds.
run=
shift
"$@" && exit 0
;;
esac

Edit ... i used now the missing script from /usr/share/automake-1.7 => ./configure works now

Don't rename the file, just

cp libeq.h libEQ.h

found that at least on the system i was installing it on that the make still called for libeq.h, copied it and it ran fine.

I now can compile it on SUSE 8.2 baut it compiles with masses of warnings and then only segfaults ...

But i am to lazy atm to look at this ... i still have my SUSE 7.3 runing and seq works fine there
