View Full Version : ShowEQ Status still "green"?

I see that the ShowEQ Status pane on the left still shows Green for ShowEQ 5 Beta Status, though is also says "works with 2/10/04 EQLive" (way behind on the patches that have happened since). I haven't been able to get online much in the last week, but when I was, I got nothing but the Bad_CRC errors on SEQ... no map, no GPS, no mobs... nothing.

Before the call to grab the torch and pitchfork comes, all I'd like to ask of others is this:
Is anyone else having the same problem or should I start the hunt to find the problem with my setup.
I'm not asking if development has stopped or for help finding the problem (yet)... just if what I'm seeing is expected or should I start probing into my setup.

So, can I get a poll here?
1) Yeah, the latest patch broke it ... deal
2) Yeah, the latest patch broke it ... but if you dig deeper, I bet you can find a fix
3) What do you mean it's not working? Your setup is dicked!
4) Still working here... *shrug*
5) (left blank, awaiting other clever responses that are sure to come)

Thanks guys

Works fine here (except for the player struct stuff). I get mobs and maps.

Yes, it's still "green", although as Cryonic said some structs have changed as of the last patch and some things are not working 'as intended' (namely buff window, filters, etc)

Thanks much for the update.
Now if only my connection were sufficient to let me play. This being overseas crap is really starting to hurt my leisure activities.

On a side note... Hypothetically speaking, of course...
If you were on a shared LAN in, say, an apartment building, and someone's computer(s) were not playing nice and flooding the router (DSL line) thus slowing down response time to a crawl, how would you go about 'stress testing' their NIC?
Say the PC in question was being so unfriendly that a simple ping to a local DNS server was taking upwards of 10k ms, rather than the usual 60-80ms... Any thoughts? :D
(Unplug the offending port and presto, speed restored)

Well if you can unplug the offending machine, the most direct way to solve the problem would be to not plug it back in...

Short of that, you need to figure out why the bad machine is slowing down the network. Is it generating more traffic then the DSL line can handle, thus creating a large outbound (or inbound) queue and slowing down competing traffic? If so you could change the router to one that can do traffic shaping (bandwidth limiting) You could also insert a bandwidth limiting device between the bad computer and the existing router. Has the other machine gone gonzo and is it having some problem (babbling on the network, generating excessive collisions, etc.)? If so maybe it just needs a reboot. What is the nature of the traffic? Is it some sort of file sharing system? Is it a virus or worm that is replicating? Is is just a lot of porn? You would have to look at stuff like this to determine what to do.

You might try just asking the owner of the computer what he or she is doing and let them know that whatever it is, is impacting other users.

Has anyone been able to locate these Struct changes?

Or are we waiting for the Fix to DX9 patch to come out then fix them?

Also if anyone has the IDIOTS guide to packet struct / opcode finding arround here please let me know so I can make a attempt at doing this myself.

Well I dont know if this will help, but this thread http://seq.sourceforge.net/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=4066&highlight=light+source helped me restore the light sources (which I need to do again).

I also found this thread that might help a bit http://seq.sourceforge.net/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=4447&highlight=find+op+codes

Here is another one:

I would love an Idiots Guide to Finding Structures/Op Codes.

I wish development on the debugging of everquest.exe to find opcodes had continued.
