cvs stalling

In leu of my troubles
I downloaded the tar for 5.0.0.7 beta
to do a new install
I uncompressed and then ran the cvs update
It connects to the cvs server and starts to download then stalls
any ideas

I did change the path also

did you change all the ROOT files in all the CVS folders to point to the right repository? Better yet, delete the whole directory and get everything clean from cvs
