Greetings.

I'm building a box to only do ShowEQ and would like to keep the install as streamlined as possible. What are the minimum packages I need to install in order for ShowEQ to funciton. Distribution will be Redhat 9.

I'm new to Linux and struggling to extricate myself from the Dark Side of the Force that is Windows. I've searched the forums and the FAQ and have not found a reccomended minimum package install for SEQ. If I missed it somehow, I apologize. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Only reason to limit package installs is lack of hard drive space. There's no harm in having extra packages installed.

My linux box has a 30gig HD in it, so when I did RH9 installs on it, I told it to install everything. Compile worked.

That's easier than picking and choosing packages in my opinion. If you have HD space available, use it.

And if space is the issue? i.e. 4gb drive.

Custom install, remove all packages, add X and development tools
add other packages post install as needed till SEQ builds...

Some of the important ones might be gcc (3+?), automake, autoconf, qt, libpcap, X (XFree86 or Xorg), libtool, libpng, gd simply from watching ./configure run on my system.
