I have the latest showeq rpl cdrom cele on FC3.

I have both computers going through a hub, I know the hub is fine because previously I had my linux laptop running showeq and it worked fine.

I loaded showeq on another system, and it works fine, but will not capture the packets. I have entered the IP, Mac, and monitor next eq client seen.

The difference are of course different computer and nic, but shouldn't matter and it was a new install of showeq, on my laptop I had older versions, but had updated them as versions came out.

I am still learning linux so I am no expert. I am at a loss, it runs fine, no errors, just won't capture.

What version of ShowEQ are you running?

5.0.0.22

The program loads fine, it just won't capture packets, I have the same program running on my laptop and it captures it fine.

Can you see EQ traffic with tcpdump?

It could very well be your hub. They make hubs called switching hubs. Linksys is well known for this.

As long as all the connections are the same speed (all 100mb or all 10mb) it works as a hub. If one of them is different, it works as a switch and you wont be able to sniff packets.

I did a tcpdump and it doens't see one packet from EQ.

When I just read your message Blue about the 10 vs 100, I think this system has a 10 mb and this a 10/100 with everything else 100, gonna switch it out and find out, thanks for the info!

What speed nics are all 3 (the seq box, the laptop, the eq box)? Like BA said, there's some networking hardware that even though it says hub, actually act as switches.
