It possible to run seq in a vpc fedoracore3 on a win2k system? Also behind a linksys befsr41 router. Tried lately and does not seem to work. Have noticed on forum there are a lot of problems with latest patch. I am also very new to linux and seq so that could possibly have a bearing on my troubles as well. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

That router acts as a switch, so you will not see traffic to your EQ box from your "linux" box. Until you can see eq traffic using tcpdump on your "linux" box, you have zero chance of seeing seq ever work. This has absolutely nothing to do with EQ patches and everything to do with how a network works. You can achieve this either through some fancy routing tricks like arp poisoning, or buying a real true actual hub and putting both the EQ box and your "linux" box.

I've never used virtual pc before.

I'm guessing "Warning: Warning: Unknown payload typename 'utf8' for opcode '3200" is what people are talking about on forum.

What forum? Not this one. That error doesn't mean anything. You need to copy your eqstr_us.txt and spells_us.txt into your showeq install, but that won't magically make your router be a hub.

I saw a lot of topics about network problems on the VPC forums also. Guess I might be out of luck 8(

Possible maybe if I put the Win2k/Linux box outside router and place other computer behind router? That being Win2k/Linux box having 2 nics?

If you're gonna do that, just do it behind the router...

Well I did that tcpdump and didn't see anything resembling EQ stuff. This was with 2 nics and having each linux and win2k having their ip, same box.

You'd have to route the EQ client box through the linux box on one nic then out to the internet on the 2nd nic. Or just spend like 20 bucks on a hub that works like a netgear ds104.

I'm a bit confused....with Virtual PC i'm running Windows 2k as host OS and Fedoracore3 as guest OS. These two OSes running on the same computer at the same time with Virtual PC. I'm like running Linux in the background.

You might want to consider MySEQ. It runs on windows. It can be downloaded from here:

hmm... April 2003... Something tells me that the MySEQ project died a nice quiet death...

I think it still works. It only needs the current offsets which have been posted.

Edit: Im wrong. Only the patch offsets on the 11th were posted here. There are other places to get them though.
