Purple said " Look at config.log to see what is actually being run I'd guess your binutils install is messed up and nm is segfaulting for some reason"

With binutils what version do I need?? and what is NM ? Is that a seperate file I missed somewhere??

Nick I am sorry for posting under yours.. did not mean to hijack your thread..

Thank you

Halfoak

Any recent binutils should be fine I'd imagine. nm dumps symbols from object files. It's just all standard configure stuff that makes sure your system is working before even trying to compile showeq.

What does nm --version say for you? What does config.log say?

Purple here is my complete Config log.. I know you know a lot more about Linux then I do, so thank you for the help..

This file contains any messages produced by compilers while
running configure, to aid debugging if configure makes a mistake.

It was created by showeq configure 5.0.0.22, which was
generated by GNU Autoconf 2.59. Invocation command line was

$ ./configure
