Hi,

I have trouble with running showeq on the same machine as I run eq itself.

My Linux box has one Network card eth0 with PPPoE and one Interface dsl0.

I can tcpdump everquest-data on the dsl0 interface, eth0 shows only PPPoE encoded data (as it should be). When I run showeq (as root) then it can not find any client. Neither when I say it should listen to dsl0 nor with eth0.

Im running EQ under CEDEGA (winex) on the same Linux box (SuSE Linux 10.0) as showeq runs.

You can give me any hints?

many thanks in advance

Showeq will not run on PPoE because it encodes differently.

You would probably need a modem/router that will dialup the dsl. Then behind that would be your EQ/SEQ. That way you will have clean packets that don't have the PPoE garbage included in it.

I have never run EQ under winex so I do not know if SEQ will sniff the packets or not.

I do know that PPoE is a problem. My friend had it and had to get an external modem/router so his machine wouldn't change the packets.

Probably your best bet is to get an external modem/router.

His setup looks something like this.

Inet
|
DSL modem with built in router
|
hub - SEQ
|
