RESOLVED! See last port for solution

RESOAfter a long absence from ShowEQ, I've returned and run into a few snags compiling.

I'm running Centos 6.7 (Final) on VMWare
Kernel Linux 2.6.32-220.el6.x86_64
Gnome 2.28.2

Allocated 2GB Ram and CPU is an i7

did the following from what I remembered the last time I got a box up and running:

sudo yum update
sudo yum groupinstall "Development Tools"
cd /root
sudo svn co https://svn.code.sf.net/p/seq/svn/showeq/trunk showeq
cd showeq
make -f Makefile.dist build
./configure && make && make install

Getting an errror:

...
checking for extra includes... no
checking for extra libs... no
checking for libz... -lz
checking for libpng... -lpng -lz -lm
checking for Qt... no
>> Unable to locate your Qt includes...
configure: error: Please verify your Qt devel install!

Here is my log:

make sure that qt-devel is installed.

QT is installed, but I dont see qt-devel installed.

The best thing you can do is go to the readme file and in there are all the required installs. yum those down, then proceed.

Looked at the newbie install file and yum install'd everything on the list. Getting same error. I can't remember which distro I used last time, but I remember have almost no issues. I think it was CentOS, but can't recall. The install file refers to fedora, so I'll get that a try and report back.

I'm getting this now, which is new. I don't think it has anything to do with the latest patch, but haven't changed anything.

Ixtabay: With CentOS 6.x, "qt-devel" is actually QT4's devel package. Make sure to instead install "qt3-devel".

Sigur: Not sure which distro you're using, but sounds potentially similar.

This was exactly the problem! Thank you TheHarbor!

yum -y install qt3 qt3-devel install binutils gcc gcc-c++ libgcc libstdc++ libstdc++-devel libpcap zlib zlib-devel gd gd-devel glibc-kernheaders glibc-devel cvs patch make m4 libtool libtool-libs autoconf automake binutils libpng libpng-devel libjpeg libjpeg-devel libmng libmng-devel freetype tar bzip2 wget

The above installs everything listed in the newbie readme, plus qt3 and qt3-devel. Seems to do the trick, but getting errors about the following packages not existing:

xorg-x11-libs
xorg-x11-libs-data
xorg-x11-devel

Reboot solved my problem so not sure what the hell was going on there. I'm on CentOS 6.

I don't recall the precise list of packages I had installed for my CentOS 6.x based VM, but you are correct that none of those 3 packages exist on the standard RPM repository for CentOS 6.x. Are you still getting compile errors? Paste 'em if so.

Ok, here's an update. I was happy to get this working with an older CentOS 6.2 and 6.4, so I tried and also got it working with the latest CentOS 7.1 (as of today)

You can remove the xorgs from the list, but need to add libpcap-devel

This should get you to where you can compile after a CentOS 7.1 minimal install

sudo yum update
sudo yum groupinstall "Development Tools"
sudo yum groupinstall "GNOME Desktop"
sudo yum -y install qt3 qt3-devel install binutils gcc gcc-c++ libgcc libstdc++ libstdc++-devel libpcap libpcap-devel zlib zlib-devel gd gd-devel glibc-kernheaders glibc-devel xorg-x11-libs xorg-x11-libs-data xorg-x11-devel cvs patch make m4 libtool libtool-libs autoconf automake binutils libpng libpng-devel libjpeg libjpeg-devel libmng libmng-devel freetype tar bzip2 wget

cd /root

sudo svn co https://svn.code.sf.net/p/seq/svn/showeq/trunk showeq
cd showeq
make -f Makefile.dist build
./configure && make && make install

You can use command startx to load the gnome gui

SOLUTION:enable session tracking

Got it compiled, runs, but getting error:

Warning: EQPacket: Unhandled net opcode 4400, stream client-zone, size 261

Have been searching google and the forums but can't find a clear answer. Also, I see that a diffs file was posted, but does that need to be applied somehow?

Thanks again! Pretty excited to have gotten this far.
