How does one use that file to get ShowEQ working again? I can modify source code if I know what/where to do it :)

get the current subversion or revert to it
patch -p 0 < /path/diffs-xxxxxx.txt

I downloaded the tarball from sourceforge and compiled it. I tried to do the subversion install but had a problem- (Ref: http://www.showeq.net/forums/showthread.php?7060-Returning-player-with-a-(hopefully)-small-problem)

So can the patch be applied to the source code for 5.13.10.39 and then recompiled?

If the svn isnt working, you should be able to do the diff on the tarball.
