On a Debian sid system, updated today.

With today's cvs:

As you can see above, I have the latest version of libEQ.a in /usr/local/lib, and a simlink to it in /usr/lib. I plan on deleteing the simlink once things get working. Can someone point me in a direction to get around this problem?

I am getting this error as well and have copies of libEQ.a in /usr/lib and /usr/local/lib.

In a different thread with the same problem, it was requested to see the last 10 lines of config.log. Those lines to not appear to have anything interesting, so I'm including the entire config.log. Any suggestions would be appriciated.

ps.. I have also attempted to get this to work using gcc-3.0, and get the same results.

You are probably working out of the old ./linux/showeq CVS module rather than the new ./showeq CVS module. The former is the old showeq 3.1.x, the later the new showeq 4.x

You are correct. I used the command cvs co linux and not cvs co showeq. Doh...



Now to get gcc-3.0 setup correctly in my enviorment

I downloaded the snapshot.tar.gz of showeq4 from krisps website, but am getting a simlar error.

After loading all the libs and such it get to the same error in the ./configure

checking for ProcessPacket in -lEQ... cat: conftest.C: No such file or directory
no
configure: error: libEQ.a not found. Be sure libEQ.a is already installed in /usr/local/lib or /usr/lib.

(And libEQ.a is there and i have checked to make sure its the right md5sum.)


Looking at Zophad and Mr. Guys walkthroughs I saw they did
export CC=gcc3
export CXX=g++3
After installing gcc3.
After doing this I get this error now apon attempting to rerun ./configure

checking for gcc... gcc3
checking whether the C compiler (gcc3 ) works... no
configure: error: installation or configuration problem: C compiler cannot create executables.

Any suggestions at this point?

Ok, after nosing around I figured out that the mandrake packaged versions had the command named gcc-3.0.1 rather than gcc3.
so I excuted the command agian and its seems to have completed the configure this time.


I'll leave this here incase anybody else doesn't see this atfirst with perhaps another package or newer version.

/showeq/showeq is the path NOT /showeq/linux

the linux tree is the old 3.x version and WILL NOT compile with the libeq that is being distributed... showeq tree is the new V.4
