Uploaded (via SVN) small changes to playerProfile struct... was bugging me that that the last patch changed alignment slightly.

Also was looking to move playerProfile info to player.cpp where I believe it logically belongs but my C++ skills are not strong enough to move it and have it compile. Seems odd to handle player data in zonemgr.cpp but I couldn't get it moved and working.

Search this site for that error... believe there are several posts addressing it.

yep i'm an idiot forgot to put some setting in showeq on my new pi. So put them on my pi and it still happened so i went back to my old pi and still got the same issue.

In the new expansion zones teir 1-2 zones each time i zone i get a seg fault. if i zone and the camp out and in most of the time it works. So i logged on another toon in COTF zones and zoned him around. ToR to EWK to DH then gated to pok. No issues at all. I've now tried it on my new pi and its the same as the old. zones from COTF down no zoning issues but new expansion and its seg fault after seg fault on zoning. info below

Getting a backtrace will be helpful to see what's going on. There should be some posts explaining how to obtain a backtrace for seqfaults if you are unfamiliar.

I also noticed that your spells_us.txt file looks to be old. Guessing eqstr_us.txt may also be older. You can copy them both from your everquest directory to usr/local/share/showeq on your pi machine.

I'm a complete noob at this and only have it running thanks to spanners. Is anyone else having issues?

Yeah, I'm having issues but nothing similar to what you're seeing.

Whenever I zone, showeq initially loads up the correct map for the new zone. But a few seconds later, it then loads up the map for akheva instead. This is what I see in the terminal window:

I also have an issue where if I die and get rezzed back, showeq shows me as a yellow corpse box moving around the zone, instead of the proper dot and direction vector.

I flushed my source dir and did a clean checkout from subversion and that didn't help. Are you sure you checked everything in? I suspect you might have a missed a few opcodes.

I've seen the corpse issue before... but mine usually goes away when rezzed. It's only when I still have a corpse needing a rez.

Opcodes look right for me. I had a map issue today but only once in hundreds of zones so not sure what's up with that. I can look at the newzone struct to make sure it didn't change but I am on the road until next week.

I think my hack for handling bandolier and poison belt may be causing some strangeness. I need to look at it when I get back into town. Would appear that just skipping bytes won't work so I am going to have to figure out what is going on there. Not sure how this would be related to maps but I've seen stranger things.

Just as a quick test, I ifdef-ed out all the code in fillProfileStruct from just before the bandolier-skip all the way to just before it checks the length at the end, and yes, my map loading issue seems to be fixed. So obviously something in there isn't quite right. I'll look at it more tomorrow.

The following seems to fix most things for me. As you suspected, it seems to be the bandolier and potion stuff. I'm not sure why the original code had the commented-out skips for that stuff, it would never work. The bandolier and potion data have variable-length, null-terminated strings in them, there's no way they'll ever be a static size.

Thanks for the fix Newby, It seems to be mostly working but I too am seeing some strangeness with maps, in TDS I often end up with skyshrine insted of the right map.

That means there's still something wrong with fillProfileStruct. Unfortunately, I've tried all my characters and showeq works fine on all of them. Are you sure you applied my patch properly?

I'll try looking at it some more, but without an example failure case, there's not much for me to go on.

I'm late to the party, but first map load = zone id pulled from OP_NewZone. Second map load = zone id pulled from OP_PlayerProfile. So if the map loads right then wrong, it is an issue with the player profile struct always. Names of structs may be slightly off. It's been a long time...

Newby's fix works reliably for me. I was getting seg faults when I was working on last patch so I just bypassed the offending part of the struct that worked on the toon I was testing. Didn't think that through, however, as it didn't really do the trick for anyone else : )

In the end, I believe the bandolier and potion struct didn't change. Once you fixed a few other spots everything fell back into line nicely.

I still haven't learned enough to successfully move the playerProfile decoding from zonemgr.cpp to player.cpp which would seem logically where it belongs... that's my goal, but so far it's been dodgy about compiling.
