    ./configure error

    qt-2.3.2 installs without a problem, i can do a make -f Makefile.dist too, but when I run ./configure it gives me a :
configure: error: cannot find compression library functions. Make sure libz is installed.

I cannot find any libz rpm anywhere.

    Anyone have any clues.

It is a fresh full install of RH 7.2.

Do you mean installed? uninstalling zlib and zlib-devel shouldn't have fixed the problem, but installing them would have.

I had this happen today with RedHat 8.0

For some reason I didn't seem to have the devel rpm installed. Once I installed that it seemed to work fine.
