I was having the same trouble. In the showeq.conf there are a few font options. I changed "fontsize" and "statusFontsize" under [Interface] and this fixed my problem. Both where default 8, I went to 14 on my 13" monitor running 1024res. Hopes this helps.
The funny thing is, I came to this board for help myself. Desided to be a bit more through before posting my question. Solved my own problem.

that did indeed resolve problem. i went in previously and changed it from the default to 12 and no change, and then realized i hadnt saved showeq.conf properly heh thx again.
