but HOW do i stop the damn map from moving when i move my cursor over it ... its driving me NUTS

it only does it on map 1 .. not 2,3,4,5 its really strange, if i move the mouse pointer over the map it moves the whole map in strange directions... ????

please help anyone

It sounds like either your middle mouse button is stuck down or your X server thinks it's stuck down. Basically the only reason the behavior you are seeing should occur is if the map code is seeing an middle button down event without ever seeing a middle button up event.

I find that this occasionally happens under both X Windows and under Windows independent of the program I'm using, don't know why. I think the mouse button state machine gets wedged. To fix this I usually go to a nice benign portion of the screen (nothing to be clicked on) and quickly cylce through all the mouse buttons a few times and it usually clears up.
