    Question CPU and Motherboard upgrade

Noticed Fry’s has these Cpu upgrades with motherboards.

How would Redhat 7.x handle an upgrade to an AMD Athlon xp 1700+ processor and FIC motherboard? I am thinking of just putting HD in current setup into new system and booting it up.. Will it go crazy?

    Thanx,
From someone who uses unix shell everyday for over 10 years now, but knows nothing about unix! heehee

Well, it will probably work, but it's always better/safer to do a fresh install with that kind of Hardware change. Also you might need to switch to the athlon kernel before swapping everything to the new mobo/cpu.

it really should boot, and if you are using an i386 kern i don't think there would be any issues... but he's right, i always prefer to install fresh when the mb/cpu undergoes a drastic change. of course, i got used to this from windows... so i'm probably FOS :)

hell, try it and see what happens. worst case it won't boot and you have to put it in the old system or re-install linux eh?
