Damn this is near the coolest thing I've seen in awhile.

I wish I had a PS2. Look like I'm gonna have to buy one now.

    =)

I'm sure this will be cool too, but a fully functional and endorsed product like Linux for PS2 is defunately MUCH cooler.

Plus, you get a huge hard disk in the PS2 kit. Not to mention sound, graphics, and full I/O support.

ps. The Linux for XBox project will be a slow project indeed, since they don't even have an XBox yet!

The may run into some legal problems to. As you don't own the XBox but just have a license to use it as it is intended to be used. All microsoft have to do is send in the lawers if they want to snuff it out pretty quick.

I would believe that the worst Microsoft's lawyers could do is revoke your license to the software on the drive, not to the hardware itself. That is yours to screw with as you please.

Yea, you purchase the hardware, it's yours. Throw it off a bridge. Microsoft can't sue you for that. And they can't sue you for replacing the operating system with a new one. You could probably also sell a modified XBox with no legal problems.

They also can't even revoke your right to use the software either, unless you're tampering with it and selling or giving away anything that can be considered "Intellictual Property" of Microsoft.

This is not XBox specific, it goes for anything from a pocketwatch to a Crey supercomputer.

    Consumers do have SOME rights.
