I'm sure its a simple fix after a long road of rpms

    Ok. here we go..
Upgraded my linux box to a clean 7.2 Redhat
    installed all needed RPMS
    installed the needed QT
    got most recent libEQ.a
downloaded the 4.0 CVS from the showeq dir

After a long road.. all rpms and qt installed with NO Errors

But... when i goto /root/showeq and

    do make -f Makefile.dist

    I get this error: instantly

    Adding libtool support ...................make [1]: *** [no-backup] Error 127
    make: *** [all] Error 2

Any ideas.. I'm SOOOO close to finishing after 14+ hours
    thanks

Still don't have all the rpms you need. Read the INSTALL file. Hint is "libtool". I'd tell you outright, but I am too lazy to switch windows and find the exact rpm name.

But the INSTALL file lists a bunch of tools automake, autoconf, libtools, each is a seperate package under redhat that needs to be installed.

Finally got everything installed on my computer and showeq is compiling now. Was quite a trick to get RH 7.2 installed on 512M hard drive and still have X, development tools, and enough space to compile qt and showeq. Have to use a 10 year old windows manager, but that just brings back memories .

How it all works out. Next thing they will do is require gnome or kde for showeq and really up my disk requirements.

(Ratt, that was not a suggestion )

I went to rpmfind. and downloaded and installed these rpms

    autoconf....
    automake....
    gdbm........
    gdbm-d.....
    libtool-1.4.....
    libtool-libs13......
    libtool-libs-1.4......
    zlib-dev......

dunno if any one in particular isnt needed.. but after those..

    Showeq 4 COMPILES YEAH

All you need is in the INSTALL file.

Taken from the INSTALL file included with Showeq 4.0

    PRE-REQUISITES:
    ---------------
Below is a list of packages you will need in order to compile ShowEQ:

    Name: Minimum: Suggested:
    -----------------------------------
    *** 3rd party libraries ***
qt 2.3.2 (Must be compiled with -thread)
qt-devel 2.3.2 (Must be compiled with -thread)
    libpcap 0.62
    gdbm 1.8.0

    *** Optional 3rd party libraries ***
    db3 3.2.9 3.3

    *** C++ Compilation ***
    glibc 2.2 2.2.4
    libstdc++ 3.0 3.0.2
    gcc 3.0 3.0.2

    *** GNU tools ***
    libtool 1.3.4-3 Most recent...
    autoconf 2.13-1 Most recent...
    automake 1.4-6 Most recent...
    -----------------------------------

NOTE: Higher versions of these libraries should work fine...

Zan is wise beyond his years "unless he is 300"

One tip tho... I'd not try the latest version of QT from www.trolltech.com

Just FTP in and get 2.3.2 and I think you will be much more happy

    good luck

    another problem

where does one get devel 2.3.2 of QT? i can't seem to be able to find it at qt's site...

everything is compiling fine for me now, but when I go to run showeq, I get an library error saying it can't find some lightGrey color and quits to command line without segfault...

only thing i'm missing is devel libs for the qt 2.3.2 version
